sikh food!!

Sikh people eat special kind of food like this. These are  some of the pictures that Sikh people eat at festivals!! It is pronouced as langar. Langar is vegetarian but some Sikh do eat meat.Every gurdwara has a langar where all people are welcome to a free meal regardless of their sex, colour or religion. There are no rituals observed in the langar and everyone eats together. All the food is vegetarian so that no religious group is offended. Sikh do not eat Halal or Kosher food because they do not believe in the ritual killing of animals.
They help charities and  feed homeless. This shows they won’t say no if you want to come and eat some of the food. You can come in and see what they have in the gudwara temple. This shows sewa – selfless service to the others in the sadhsangat (community), the gurdwara, and the world outside. We are also lucky we have local mosques, churches and temple.

They often serve chickpeas and bhatura’s a type of fried flat bread.

The Sikhs rules.

Some Sikhs have strict rules and some don’t but they all have the same rules can you guess any that are not on this list???

If you do know some, then leave them in the comments

The first rule is that Sikhs can not cut their hair as they believe they have to keep it in the way that god created them for.  Lots of Sikhs do not cut their hair as they are not that strict but do not cut all of it of still.Men are not allowed to cut their beards as their beards are also hair.

They keep their beard tied up so it is not all hanging out .

Number two
They must follow the 5k’s.

Number three

They cant eat meat as they think it is bad to kill animals so when they go to a temple they never serve meat.

The three golden rules that they have no choice but to follow.

1. Remember god through meditation            Naam  japna

2 have an honest living                                           Kirat Karo

3 selflessly serving others, sharing income and resources       Vand chakko
